The Face
The avoirdupois,
of the golden diadem of ruffled hair;
Bore by a hexing visage,
Precious ’n’ Malicious
For his beauty pestilent!
Eyes ethereal,
spellbinding sideburns,
And withal nitid smile
His caramel undertone embellished.
Specs perched
Like a bird of paradise,
On the daintiest branch
Devoid of blight,
For he was a pristine cherub!
Cheeks perpetually mantling,
like a Malbec Rosé…
Inadvertent actions,
Caused an impression so chasmic;
Of his face,
Of The Face.
*This is my first ever attempt at poetry. Since I am supposed to analyze a couple of poems by Robert Browning for English Literature at AS levels, I came across this one poem called ‘A Face’ and got so moved and inspired by the impeccably mesmerizing diction used that I decided to write my own version with a similar theme and title.*
